Der Weg zu meinem ersten Album / The way to my first album (English below)

Begonnen habe ich mit dem Album im Frühjahr 2020. Damals sammelte ich Schnipsel, Samples und experimentierte mit 8bit Sound aus Handhelden und einem Microgranny. Die Rohfassung der meisten Tracks auf dem Album entstanden auf langen Spaziergängen im Wald. Auf regelmäßig langen Spaziergängen nahm ich wilde Pfade oder trampelte eigene in die unberührte Natur. Immer dabei war meine Hündin und ein portables Musikgerät, entweder ein Nintendo mit LSDJ oder Nitrotracker oder eine PSP mit Little Piggy Tracker. Ursprünglich wollte ich in Karlsruhe an einer 8bit Veranstaltung mit einem Live-Auftritt teilnehmen, weshalb ich mich initial mit der Art von Musik und Musikgeräten sowie Trackern beschäftigte. Die Veranstaltung fiel aus doch ich hatte nach einigen Wochen mehr oder weniger intensiver Benutzung die Geräte, die Tracker und die portable Möglichkeit ins Herz geschlossen.

Während des Gehens bei trockenem Wetter konnte ich völlig ungestört Musik machen. Als Vater ein wahrer Luxus. Tief atmete ich die ätherischen Dufte der Bäume und Waldblumen ein und genoß sowohl die Musik als auch die Herrlichkeit des Waldes und des Alleinseins, nur meine Hündin als Begleiterin. In dieser Zeit entstanden viele Snippets und Demos, an denen ich in einem völlig neuem gegensätzlichen Abschnitt meines Lebens, fern ab vom Wald nach und nach weiterarbeitete. Ich nutzte dafür die Tracker, ein Microgranny von Bastl und als DAW Ableton. Mir war klar, dass ich keine reine 8bit Musik machen möchte. Lieber Greife ich dieses Element auf und binde es in meine Musik ein. So ist es ein erweiterndes Element meiner Ideen und Projekte. Diese zweijährige Arbeit kulminiert in meinem ersten veröffentlichten Album Dither Clones .

Diese Musik ruckelt, zerrt und nimmt einen in die Mangel, zugleich aber bietet sie in all ihrer Unstimmigkeit und Widersprüchlichkeit eine Befreiung von allen Zwängen und Abhängigkeiten, die auf den Musikschaffenden einwirken. Produziert wurde das Album an vielen Orten und daher ist ihr ein wandelnder, forschender und sterbender Charakter immanent. Ich wünsche mir mit meiner Musik diese Stimmung zu vermitteln, ebenso meiner Hoffnung, erlebte Freiheit und die Reinheit des Waldes.

I started with the album in spring 2020. At that time I collected snippets, samples and experimented with 8bit sound from Handhelds and a Microgranny. The rough version of most of the tracks on the album was created on long walks in the woods. On regularly long walks I took wild paths or trampled my own into the untouched nature. Always with me was my dog and a portable music device, either a Nintendo with LSDJ or Nitrotracker or a PSP with Little Piggy Tracker. Originally, I wanted to participate in an 8bit event in Karlsruhe with a live performance, which is why I initially dealt with the kind of music and music devices as well as trackers. The event was cancelled but after a few weeks of more or less intensive use I had taken the devices, the trackers and the portable possibility to my heart.

While walking in dry weather, I was able to make music completely undisturbed. A true luxury as a father. Deeply I breathed in the ethereal scents of the trees and forest flowers and enjoyed both the music and the glory of the forest and solitude, only my dog as companion. During this time, many snippets and demos were created, on which I gradually continued to work in a completely new contrasting phase of my life, far away from the forest. I used the trackers, a Microgranny from Bastl and DAW Ableton. It was clear to me that I didn’t want to make pure 8bit music. I prefer to pick up this element and integrate it into my music. So it is an expanding element of my ideas and projects. This two-year work culminates in my first released album, Dither Clones.

This music jerks, tugs and takes you into the lack, but at the same time it offers in all its inconsistency and contradictions a liberation from all constraints and dependencies that affect the musician. The album was produced in many places and therefore a walking, exploratory and dying character is immanent. I wish to convey this mood with my music, as well as my hope, experienced freedom and the purity of the forest.
